Performance package

V6-powered Mustangs are a good choice if your budget is less than $30,000. Although the V6 has a great throttle response and a decent gearbox, it could use some adjustments to the clutch. The Performance package also includes upgraded brakes and aggressive brake pads. The Mustang's rear suspension is very solid. This could lead to some unwanted twitchiness. The Genesis' multilink rear end, on the other hand, has negative camber for corners.

Recaro leather sport seats

For $1595, you can upgrade the front seats of your Mustang to the Recaro leather sports seats. These seats are super supportive and were originally made for the GT500 & Boss 302. The standard seats can be great but don't feel as firm or as comfortable as they should. However, if you plan to sell your car in the future, you'll want to consider the Recaro leather sport seats for Mustang V6 2013.

Standard features

Ford Mustang is equipped with all the safety features that you'd expect such as anti-lock brakes (ESP), AdvanceTrac(r), Electronic Stability Control(ESP), traction control, pressure monitors, airbags, and tire pressure monitoring. You can also opt for the optional SOS (Post-Crash Alert System), which activates emergency flashers, the horn and lights after an injury. This system is especially helpful for emergency situations, since it allows first responders to locate your vehicle.

Reliability

J.D. rates 2013 Ford Mustang's reliability at three out of five stars. The reliability rating is the same as that of the entire automotive industry. It passed crash tests and features modern safety technology. This vehicle has had four recalls. They all relate to the airbag systems. These recalls are not common but still worth your attention. Here are some things you should know about the reliability of Mustangs.

The fuel economy

The 2013 Ford Mustang's 3.7-liter V6 produces 305 horsepower and 280 lb of torque. The Mustang is rear-wheel driven and can be fitted with either a 6-speed manual transmission (or a 6-speed automatic transmission). The 2013 Mustang V6 is expected to get 19 mpg for city driving and 31 mpg for highway. However, the automatic transmission will reduce your mileage even further.

What kind of car mechanic jobs exists?

Three main areas of employment are available for car mechanics:

  • Automotive repair shops
  • Dealerships
  • Independent garages

Automotive repair shops

This is the place most people begin to consider becoming mechanics. It's actually the easiest way to start. You can either work at a shop owned by someone else or set up your own business.

If you choose to work at a store, you need to join a union. After you are accepted to the union, you will receive training from it.

After completing the training, you'll be ready to start work.

You will need to register if your garage is going to be open. After you have registered, you will need to meet certain standards.

When you've registered, you'll be given a license to operate your garage.

Your license will allow you to sell spare parts and do minor repairs. It won't allow you to fix major engine problems.

Apart from selling spare parts, customers will also expect you to provide guidance and advice.

Dealership jobs

Most dealerships employ mechanics that specialize in one aspect of the vehicle. They might specialize in one area, such as brakes and tires.

Some dealerships have the option to hire general mechanics who can take care of all aspects.

Many of these positions require that applicants undergo training before they are allowed to work. Employers are able to choose which candidates will best suit their position.

Some dealerships will even hire graduates right out of university. These graduates already know the basics of mechanical engineering and therefore have no problem learning about cars.

Independent garages

Independent garages don’t have to be associated with any particular dealer. They are more focused on providing top-quality service.

Independent garages have the ability to afford higher wages, as they aren’t associated with any one company. This means that these jobs are usually more lucrative than those at dealerships.

However, independent garages do not necessarily offer better workplaces. Many owners prefer to run their businesses themselves rather than delegate responsibility to employees.

So you may find yourself working long hours without having any say over what happens during the day.

Also, expect to make lower wages than if your job was at a dealership.

The good news? You can easily switch between different types of jobs. Ask your employer if you would like to work as a mechanic at a dealership.

If you prefer to work in an independent garage, you might consider applying directly to its owner.

Finding a new job is not always easy. You can earn more depending on many other factors.

Consider, for example, what type of vehicle you are repairing and whether additional labor charges will apply.

A technician who works on vehicles is an automotive technician. He/she works at car dealerships, auto shops, garages, service centers, etc. He/she repairs cars, trucks, motorbikes and snowmobiles for customers. An automotive technician must have the ability to quickly diagnose and fix problems.

To become an automotive technician, a person must first earn an associate's degree from a vocational college. After completing this program the student must pass the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence exam (ASE). ASE stands for American Society of Mechanical Engineers. There are two parts to the ASE certification exam. The first section tests the ability to use mechanical knowledge. The second section tests the ability to apply practical skills. To pass the test you must go to one of the authorized testing facilities. These locations can be found online, or by contacting your local car dealer.

After passing the test, a candidate must pass a state examination before becoming licensed as an automotive technician. This process is different depending on where you live. Some states require candidates to complete a training program, while others let them study on their own. Some states require technicians to be licensed immediately upon receiving their license. Other states wait until they have been employed as automotive technicians for at least six month.

To get started as an automotive technician, a person should apply to a local automotive dealership. Most new employees work as apprentices after they have been hired. Apprenticeship programs typically last three to four years. This is when a student can learn how to do basic repairs such as changing oil, adjusting brakes and replacing tires. Some students will learn advanced repair techniques, such as changing shocks, installing air filters, and replacing engines. Most schools offer classes during regular business hours. Some schools offer evening classes, however.

When a student has completed his/her apprenticeship, they become a journeyman. Journeymen generally spend four- to five decades learning how to fix major systems like transmissions. You will also learn how to repair complicated electrical components, as well as how to remanufacture engines and rebuild transmissions. Because they have a good understanding of the job and what customers expect, many employers prefer to hire journeymen.

If a candidate successfully passes the required exams and receives a license, he/she might want to consider starting his/her own shop. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2010, nearly 1.7 Million automotive mechanic jobs were available. This number was expected increase 18% between 2009 - 2020. A candidate who plans to open a shop should expect to spend many thousands of dollars on equipment and supplies.

Technicians with bachelor's degrees earn approximately $27,000 per year. A master's degree earns around $32,000 per a year. Salary increases can be common.
