Muscle Car GTO

longest recording dash cam

Pontiac GTO remains one of the most beloved cars of all time. Its 389-cubic-inch V8 engine and Three-speed transmission are sure to get the job done. Carousel Red represents the ultimate expression of classic muscle cars. The fact that this car was the first to have a supercharged engine makes it so special. Why is the GTO so rare, you ask?

Pontiac GTO

The Pontiac GTO muscle car was first produced in 1968 and was subsequently named Motor Trend's Car of the Year. Production ended in 1974. It was briefly revived in 2000. GTO was the standard muscle car during its time. Its performance, though not the best handling or fanciest, made it a great option for those who wanted a fast car without breaking the bank.

The 1964 Pontiac Tempest was used as the basis of the first prototype. This mid-sized rear-wheel-drive car had a 3.15-liter straight-4 engine. General Motors had forbidden mid-size cars to have engines larger that 330 cubic inches. Pontiac built test mules with a larger 389 cubic-inch V8 from the full-size line to bypass this restriction. While the prototypes were largely unsuccessful, the Pontiac guys knew they had something special.

389 cubic inches V8 engine

Pontiac GTO had a huge V8 engine of three-liters. The GM brand was devoted to innovation and ambitious in its mission to become GM's top performance brand. GTO's powerful engine was complemented by excellent styling, power brakes, and steering. These are some key points to remember about this amazing car.

The Pontiac GTO's 389-cubic in. V8 engine was the "Trophy", which was made from 1959 to 1967. This powerful engine produced between 200 and 370 horsepower, depending on the model. This car was the fastest of its kind and won the race track. In fact, the 389 engine dominated the 1960s.

Transmission three-speed

Three-speed transmission is the default transmission for a GTO. It's also known as a HD transmission, which stands Ford Dearborn 3-speed and is fitted to a GM engine. It comes with a wider range of gears than the standard Ford transmission. No matter the transmission, a GTO that has a three-speed transmission feels more powerful. However, you may consider getting a four speed manual if your budget allows.

Pontiac introduced the muscle car category in 1964 with the introduction of a large displacement 389CID V8 into their Tempest. Then, they tweaked it by adding performance upgrades. The result was the GTO (first production GTO), a sports car that featured a three-speed manual gearbox mounted on the floor. American automakers were quick to follow suit. Later models were available with a floor mounted four-speed manual shifting unit.

Carousel Red color

Carousel Red, the color used to paint the GTO's muscle car GTO, is one of most desired colors in automobile industry. It's a rich, deep orange shade that matches the bright paint schemes of the time. The Judge GTO was originally sold only in Carousel Red. But, recent models have been available in other colors, such as the popular Monaco Orange. However, for those looking for a more unique color, it is highly recommended to choose the GTO Judge in Carousel Red.

Although the Pontiac GTO Judge was initially available in Carousel Red at first, it was only made available for a small number of units. Other colors were eventually added but Carousel Red was the most popular. Named after the 1960s comedy "Raising Hope", Pontiac GTO Judge,

How To

How to be an Automotive Technician

An automotive technician performs repairs and maintains vehicles. He/she works in car dealerships as well as auto shops, garages, and service centers. He/she works with customers to repair their cars and trucks, ATVs or snowmobiles. An automotive technician must know how to diagnose problems and perform repairs efficiently, safely, accurately, quickly, and correctly.

A person who wants to work as an automotive technician should first obtain an associate degree from a vocational school. After completing this program, he/she will need to pass the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence's (ASE) certification exam. ASE stands for American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Two sections make up the ASE certification examination. The first section tests your mechanical skills, while the second tests your practical knowledge. To pass the test, you will need to visit an authorized testing location. These testing sites can be found online and through your local dealer.

A candidate must pass the state exam after passing the test to become an automotive technician. It varies depending on the location of the applicant. Some states require that candidates attend training courses, while others permit them to learn independently. Some states permit technicians to work immediately after they are granted their license. Others require them to wait at least six consecutive months before they can be licensed.

To get started as an automotive technician, a person should apply to a local automotive dealership. Most new employees work as apprentices after they have been hired. Apprenticeships typically last three years. Students learn basic repair skills such as changing oil and adjusting brakes, changing tires, cleaning spark plugs and inspecting engine compartments. Some students learn how to do advanced repairs, such as installing air filters, replacing shocks, repairing engines, and replacing transmission fluids. Schools offer classes during business hours. Some schools also offer evening classes when needed.

After completing an apprenticeship, a student becomes a journeyman. Journeymen can spend up to five years learning how major systems work, including transmissions, differentials. They also learn how to adjust steering gear and suspensions. They also learn to perform complex repairs, such as remanufacturing engines, rebuilding transmissions, and troubleshooting electrical components. Because they have a good understanding of the job and what customers expect, many employers prefer to hire journeymen.

Once a candidate passes the required exams and is granted a license, they might consider opening their own shop. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that there were nearly 1.7 million jobs available for automotive mechanics in 2010. This number was expected increase 18% between 2009 - 2020. When a candidate plans to open his/her own shop he/she should be ready to invest thousands of dollars in equipment.

There are many factors that affect the salary of an automotive technician, such as where they live, their education and experience. A jobless person could make an average of $20,000 annually. A person with only a high-school diploma could make around $21,000 annually. A bachelor's degree is equivalent to approximately $24,000 annually. Technicians with a bachelor’s degree made about $27,000 annually. The average annual salary for those with master's degrees was $32,000. Salary increases can be common. A professional who earns less that $30,000 today could reasonably expect a $40,000 increase in the next few decades.
